Geno Prussakov has a great post on the AM Navigator blog about how recent changes to Google Suggest can help prevent trademark poaching.
The screenshot below demonstrates a new way to bring up advertisements using Google Suggest:

From the above image, it is obvious that Google Suggest puts the original website on the very top position, and all paid search ads (which are bidding on the keyword in the search field) on the bottom of the list.
We would argue that paid search ads don’t really have a place in Google Suggest, but at least the ads are on the bottom. I’ve also been unable to truly determine when the ads are shown and when they are not shown.

I also wish those paid ads weren’t on the list at all (I wrote: “Ideally, for the purposes of preventing trademark poaching on this level, paid ads should have been excluded altogether”), but it’s good that they are at least moved all the way to the bottom.
